Colorful Moroccan Lanterns at the Djemaa el-Fna Square Souk in Marrakech
September 17, 2011. Marrakech, Morocco.
Vivid old dreams came sauntering through my mind as I stood there. The world around me, this bustling souk at Marrakech’s Djemaa el-Fna Square, was thriving with people and activities. But at that moment, time remained still for me as I stood there looking into a shop displayed with beautifully decorative lanterns. Flickering lights and vibrant colors of red, orange, yellow, and blue took me back to a time in my life where I wanted to have a Moroccan room. You know, a Moroccan room decorated with deep reds of plush pillows, intricately hand-crafted dark wood furniture, and lots of colorful lanterns hanging from the ceiling. I was inspired by the images I had seen in magazines and by restaurants I had eaten at that were designed to resemble a Moroccan palatial space. It was my dream to have my very own Moroccan room, a room full of beautiful lanterns just like these.
Maybe one day …..
